Caulk for trim

I was told to caulk the top of the trim around the bottom of my 1974 Globetrotter. Any suggestions on what kind of caulk to use?
Thanks

I like Parbond in aluminum color. I put on a fine bead, then use a mineral spirits soaked cloth to push it into the crack and wipe off the excess.

Hi

Silicone (RTV) caulk is normally the "best stuff" for most applications. The standard varieties give off acetic acid when they cure. That's not a good thing for a number of metals, aluminum being one of them. There are "Aluminum safe" flavors, good luck finding them at the Dollar General

I have found Parbond gets hard as a rock after a year or two, cracks and can fall off. I would use something else, unless you like re doing it every year.

I've never found silicone caulk or glue to be satisfactory in the long term except on glass and glass-like surfaces such as ceramic tile. It will also adhere well to stainless steel.

It should be noted that many if not all silicone RTV adhesives/caulks are almost transparent to water vapor, although they repel water droplets. This property leads to infiltration and eventual separation of the bond between the silicone and most substrates.
