Hello All,
I am hoping I can get some advice on how to go about this repair. When we returned to Minnesota from our time down south this winter there was still a lot of snow on the ground. As we backed the camper into the narrow snow canyon we called a drive way, we failed to notice the curbside rear bumper and belly pan area ride up on the snowbank.
The weight caused the belly pan to push up and rip free from some of the rivets. The bumper and banana wrap also came loose. Here are three pics to better illustrate the damage:
I figure the underside repairs should be fairly straight forward; I plan to flatten and straighten the tin as best I can and use a large head or standard (depending on location) aluminum rivet to re-secure. The part that is more uncertain for me is re-securing the bumper.
For this, it looks like I will need to remove the molding to get at the rivet locations? I'm not sure how this is done and if it will be easy to re-install. Once I have access, I can repair or plastic weld any place where the bumper plastic failed. I'm also not sure what sealant or caulking is used where the bumper meets the wrap.
Any advice, corrections or pointers are more than welcome.
Thanks,
DK
