Question A couple of stupid questions for ya!

1. Ok is researching info on our Airstream and lookign at tons of photos, we notice that many, many of these campers have red numbers arcoss the front end. However, ours does not. Can anyone shed some light on what these numbers are for?

2. On top of the camper, near the stove exhaust vent, there is this, this, aluminum looking thing that looks like it's rivited to the roof. Any ideas?

3. Also there is on the road side of the camper, toward the back a little black box looking thing that looks like it has two lights in it. Any ideas?

4. On the very back of the camper, on the left hand side, there is this little crystal looking bolt or something.?????

I'll try and attach some photos of these things this evening, if it's not raining to hard.

1. WBCCI numbers if they are blue they are Airforums numbers, Purple? somebody got lucky and got their WBBCI numbers and Airforum numbers to match
2. Fridge vent or plumbing vent.
3. Fiber optic turn signal indicator?
4. Supposed to show reversed polarity on the campground hookup.

The "two lights" are the terminations of fiber optical strands which originate behind the (I think) brake (turn?) lights on the right and left hand rear lights.....If they are clean they transmit enough light so that the driver can see in the mirror that the lights are operational.

Probably a "Polarity Indicator"...the body of a trailer should not be used as a "ground" terminal....the arrangement of the "positive" and "negative" (ground) sides of a 110-120 volt connection is critical....if the "Crystal" is glowing, immediately disconnect from the voltage source and attempt to determine why it is indicating a fault.

If the fiber optic signal indicator is working properly it lets the driver know by looking in his driver's door mirror that the trailer turn signals are working.

Such neat things that they no longer install on the new models...except the WBCCI numbers, they have always been optional since 1955.
