Leaky oven vent 2007 safari
It appears as though our vent leaks during transit in the rain. The outside flap was in locked position yet we found water on counter beneath the oven vent. We lifted the outside flap and found lots of water on the lower inside seam and noticed that the metal foil tape appears not to seal the junction between the vent and the trailer? Has anyone experienced this sort of leak? We're thinking of applying more metal foil tape and high temperature caulking where vent hood meets the inside/outside wall. We don't think the leak is coming from the top of the outside vent caulking but comes in thru flap during transport. Also considering using duct tape over flap during transit in the rain to keep flap closed. Any thoughts?
We don't want to remove the outside vent shield but will try to apply tape and caulking by opening vent flap and behind the vent lid on the inside. There is a trim piece (on the inside between hood and interior wall of trailer) held on by 2 screws that we can remove to gain access to the taped area on the inside. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
