Safari 20' SE

I have a 2006 Bambi 19 and am looking at the 20 SE. Has anyone else moved "up" to this model? Any input good or bad about the 20 would be appreciated.

We haven't "moved up" as the 20 SE is our first Airstream. (We traveled for years with VW camper vans.) The capacities are similar and the weight increase is relatively small, both have the simplicity of single axles. I think the biggest differences you would like are the larger kitchen and the longer bed with its location away from the bath. And if you are a lover of nature, sleeping next to those panoramic windows is as close to sleeping under the stars you can have without getting cold and wet.

I moved up from a 2005 Bambi 19' LS. For me, it was the floor plan. I could actually close the bathroom door while on the toilet. The 19' has a corner bed vs. the 20' with a front bed with hamper storage. Lots more storage in the 20'. The 19' has no kitchen counter space and the 20' has alot. Another big thing for me was the windows. The 19' LS had the crank out Hehr windows and my 20' SE has the full screens. Really makes a difference. Also like the non carpeted interior, my 2005 was starting to sag in a few areas. It's kinda funny how alot of people say if you buy a small Airstream you will eventually buy a bigger one. Well I guess they're right, I bought 1 foot bigger!

We're very happy with our 20". Best features are have been mentioned- bigger galley than many larger units, the bathroom and the front bed.

This is spuring my interest even more. I appreciate the feedback and this is moving toward finding a "20" in the near future.

We didn't "move up" to our 2007 20' SE, this is our first and only camper of any kind. After twelve years of studying and pondering the many options available, we knew the 20' SE was "the one". We bought ours used. The wonderfully useable kitchen, dinette and sleeping area with panoramic window plus the linoleum flooring were the clinchers. We've just returned from a 12 night, 3500 miles journey with the dog. Can't wait to do it again.

I am curious as to getting in and out of the bed. Comparing the 19' to 20' .
I looked at the 20' and I thought it could be more difficult. Please chime

I would not describe either bed as difficult, but less convenient perhaps than your bed at home or a larger trailer. That moment of inconvenience is easily accomplished. I guess in the 19 you just drop your legs down, and in the 20 you scoot back a bit and drop your legs down. This front bed plan is a terrific utilization of space.

We, too had the Bambi 19 and moved up to the Safari 20 because of the bathroom and bed issues. Love the counter space in the kitchen and the extra storage; it doubled.
