I have had my Safari SE 20 since July, 2007. On warm days the refrigerator vent fan runs constantly, to the point of draining the trailer's batteries. My contention with the factory is that the top vent should be higher on the side. This would allow air to pass by the cooling coils more naturally and effectively.
Does anyone have any comments about the cooling effectiveness of the refrigerator?
Any suggestions on how to mitigate the design issue?
Thanks for the advice. It will be fun to see how the clothespin trick works on a warm day with the trailer entry hatch open. I keep the entry hatch open to provide 4-way cross ventilation within the cabin. On the Safari SE 20 I prop the rear (escape hatch) window with a stick, open the side door, open the ward room windows (beside the dinette), and open the berth window.
Going full solar to the main battery is expensive. If you don't want to go that far, get one of the "battery topper" solar panels and connect it directly to a fan in the fridge chimney. The fan runs during the day, which is when you need it. No switches, no complications.
