Awning color?

I just called our dealer to ask what color our awning was on our new 2007 23' Safari SE. It is gray.

Has the Safari always had the gray awning? I am really happy that I did not buy a blue awning mat. I have already bought the Lafuma that is blue, because the Classic we just sold had a blue awning.

We are going to pick up our "Hut" Friday, Lucky for us, Ohio is getting a break with the weather.

Kind of suprised about the gray. I am new to Airstreams and thought the awnings were blue, but the dealer said only on the Classics.

Gray will be fine!

Gray is for Safari's and Internationals...

Airstream has settled on gray as the standard for Safari.. The Classic Limiteds get a navy blue solid fabric...

ZipDee has color booklet with over 100 fabric choices, including solids, stripes and a trmendous selection of Sunbrella fabric choices... If gray gets tiring, or you want to add some additional Zip, contact them for links to fabric selection, and they can furnish replacement fabric which could be installed locally...

Thanks

Thanks! I doubt if I will be changing the awnings for some time, so the gray will be fine. I am looking forward to seeing it. Is the gray something new to the Safari, or have they always had grey?

I'm not enough of an expert to give the exact year of changeover...

I believe they have been standard for at least 4 or 5 years... Not noticed if awnings rolled up at dealerships or on the road...

They used to do Maroon solids for Limiteds, but that ended when Limiteds and Classics merged into Classic Limited line...

On the vintage trailers, awnings were not as standardized as they are now...go with whatever suits your fancy!

Greetings-

Yes, Gray has been the standard for the current Safaris. We were surprised also when we found out we had gray, but to be honest it is very sharp!

For a complete listing of ZipDee fabrics you can go to this link:

awning colors vary over the years....

safari has been silver/grey for the last 6-7 years. for the standard models and ccds.

ocean breeze is striped. quick silver also perhaps? winick model solid?

classics were solid blue during this time (2000-2006), but stripped blue/white/silver prior.

classics with the 'limited package' were solid burgundy during this soild phase, up to 2006.

CURRENT classics (they are all limiteds) have gone back to blue/white/gray stripes

the current stripe pattern is very nice. there have been different blue stripe combos over the years.

during the 'walnut' phase of the late 70-80s there were dark brown/harvest gold stripped awnings...

and a variety of stripes in the 70s...

some years awning colors are changed mid model especially around the year end times...

it is possible to order other color combos with $$.

cheers

Best of luck with your new baby! Be sure to look all through the postings for advice and don't be afraid to ask questions. Also, post some pictures when you take them and we all know you will be taking many.

On the subject of awnings, consider the upgrade to the roadside and rear as well for summer cooling if you can afford them - they really keep help the trailer cooler.

Good Luck!

i agree with ed, the stripped awnings (red/white, blue/white, green/white) look much nicer than any of the solid color styles....

60s units looks really cool with stripes!

lots of pics here to consider...

cheers

dig that... wavy gravy...

I actually really like the idea of the tie-dye awning... sure would help one find their streamer at a rally like international....

Dude...

Look at the Colors!!!! Are there cobwebs on my Face? I wonder if the Partridge Family bus is still available? What a head turner that would be! Plenty of room for beds,stove,fridge,shower/bath and other amenities. Then again Bonaduche would probably show up and want handouts. Ha!

2 air is right - if you dont like the standard JC issue grey, you can request the factory install custom sunbrella fabric on the zip-dee awnings for a one-time $250 custome charge (that applied to all 3 of our awnings on 2007 - curb, street, and rear side). We had purchased awning and chairs from Zip Dee in "Ombre" which is a sort of south of the border striped look for our 68' Overlander and wanted the same pattern on the new trailer.

Had to match the chairs! My wife also found a company online that will make a picnic or patio table-cloth out of any sunbrella fabric you chose - easy to hose off when the kids are done with the hot dog kethcup festival.

hi ya valhalla2go!

good to read someone ordering unique touches...

considering how much the awnings accent the unit, thats a fair price...

everyone will want to know about your 'special edition' model.

when are you expecting delivery?

don't forget to post some pics so we can see the stylin' shades!

cheers
