Wallpaper falling off

Does anybody else have problems with the wallpaper material falling off the walls and other surfaces? All the "wallpaper" with the rough cross hatch pattern is missing in action, leaving the bare plywood and some old glue residue. The other wall covering (see picture) is now getting ready to hit the floor. I guess it was related to heat. How can I stop it? I was thinking about using a spray adhesive on both surfaces and rolling a rubber roller over the outside. Does anybody have a good repair? I'm wondering what kind of adhesive to use?

Spray adhesives melt at high temperatures.
You could try a non toxic product called VOV (Vinyl over vinyl) wallcovering adhesive available at Home Depot or Paint stores.
First you should 'prime' the bare wood to avoid damage from the water-base adhesive. After that dries apply an even coat of VOV to the primed surface by brush and then reapply the viny by using a plastic wallpaper tool or metal float knife to gently drive out all air and excess glue. If the old vinyl is hard and curly, you may have to use a blow dryer to soften it.
Your next best bet is using a high quality toxic contact cement.

Do you know if VOV will work on bare aluminum? I need to find an adhesive pretty quickly.

with an acrylic aluminum primer it would. But think about the temperature/moisture exchange and the VOV being a waterbase product. Doesn't seem like a sound idea for aluminum.

On a side note, John thought that I made a typo writing 'toxic' contact cement. I meant toxic and should have added volatile and flammable. Contact cement fumes are heavier than air and are eager to find a pilot light.........
