Vintage curtain rod trouble

I have the original curtain rods in my 1961 bambi and I would like to keep them. I ordered new plastic slides but they seem to stick just like the old ones. Any tricks to making the slides move sling the track?Click image for larger version

I used a small squirt of spray silicone lub spray. I also use it in the awning channel mount and the Zip Dee arms.

Have your tracks been painted? Many times this is the cause of all problems. If so, you will have to remove the paint. I've spent a lot of time sanding my tracks back to smoothness. It definitely helps. WD-40 can only do so much when there are gobs of paint in the way.

Thanks so much. I will check for paint. The silicone seemed to work great!
