Upholstry yardage 1975 Overlander

Recovering both Gouchos in my 1976 Overlander. Will 10 yards of 60" wide with no pattern repeat do the job?

2 gouchos in a 75 Overlander??
Maybe you have the rear bath and are calling the 2 single beds in the hallway gouchos?

Upholstery Yardage for 1976 Overlander

Sorry, my post subject said '75 Overlander. It is a 1976 Overlander 27' rear bath. It has a Goucho in the front and a Goucho in the center. I say Groucho in the center because it is exactly like the one in the front. They both pull out to be a 3/4 bed. I need to replace the mattresses and reupholsty them. I need help with the amount yardage for the upholstery.

Calculating yardage is fairly simple math. Measure your cushions, figure out the panel pieces and how you will be sewing them together. Make a diagram of how the pieces would be laid out to cut them from the yardage. Add a little extra material and you have your answer. If you want to add welting/piping it gets a bit more complicated, but not much. FYI, matching piping (cut on the bias -45 degrees) takes a great deal more cloth than most think. Figuring yardage for patterned pieces is the complicated thought process.

SeeMore's advice is good. I'm trying to fit a gaucho and a dinette into 10 yd of ultra leather (54" wide), bought at huge markdown on eBay. Starting point on the calculations is that the width of a gaucho is about 2 yards 3 inches (allowing for seam lengths). End result. With slicing and dicing 10 yards comes real close. You might want to buy a bit more ... if you are in a situation like mine where you can only order 10 yards exactly, be prepared to do the back sides of some bits in another fabric.

Thank You. I bought 11 yards for each gaucho this weekend.
I can always use a different fabric on the bottom and back if need be. I couldn't pass up the price. I got a great piece of upholstery fabric on sale, plus I asked for a little extra discount. Regular price $36.00 yard, on sale for 17.00 a yard. When I got to the cutting table I was overjoyed to find out that the price per yard was cut another 40% off of sale price. Jokingly I asked for an extra 20% off. Guess what? The guy cutting said, "OK. I can do that". So I had plenty in my budget left to buy the drapery material and the black out lining. The drapery was 60% off. It was my lucky day at “Cutting Corners” in Dallas, Texas.
