To reupholster or not

The sleeper couch in our 95 Sovereign needs to get reupholstered. The fabric is tearing plus it is stained.

Looking at the cost to reupholster and since we travel with pets, we have some questions:

1) is there a couch cover that fits so we can just wash when needed or replace when old?

2) Im not a big fan of the couch. How does one get a dinette in there? Do it yourself project I assume?

It depends on your personal aesthetic. We bought a couple of new heavy duty, chocolate colored moving blankets ($14 ea) and use them as both a floor cover (dirty feet) and a couch cover when the pets are along. I added four strips of elastic to the corners of one blanket to ensure it stays in place on the couch. The large size I found fits the couch in either the seat or bed configuration. We like the fact that we can throw the blankets in the wash whenever necessary or at the end of each trip.

Our dinette was a do it yourself, but we had the Amish make the cushions.
