Single snap outside AS, by door?

So I have been wondering this for years and finally decided to ask. We have a single snap riveted outside the 1979 31' AS, to the right of the door, right below the center trim line. The same snaps are used for the front extra awning sides but I am lost on why there would be one next to the door. It is on the side of the door with the handle so it wasn't used to hold the door open. Any ideas or pictures of one in use?

Picture would help. Could be that a PO used it to attach something.

Photo below. The snap is just below middle trim, half way between door frame and grey nameplate. Might need to Jon in to see. It is a little black dot in this photo.

snaps

Our 1989 has snaps in various places which are used to snap the Florida room on.

If I had a handy snap there I might put a loop there to hold something light that I will need to use next time going in or out, flashlight, garbage bag, if I had a pet maybe some dropping pickup bags or leash, a sign gone fishing or back in 10 minutes note to housekeeping maid to come back later to clean or do not disturb sign

Jim,
No other snaps on that wall that I found.

Dave,
Are you trying to turn this thread into the "Stick with string" antics? If so, I like it. Gives me ideas to use the snap for! Hahaha!

Possibly to hold a canvas pocket 'mailbox' to the side of your Airstream during rallies.

Ours has/had about two dozen of these. Some over each wheel well which I figure held sun shades. Others which corresponded with awning deployment and I assume held some kind of additional fabric and/or screen attachments. I like the idea of using some of them to attach garbage bags, etc. So I will leave some on now!

If you do not want snap could possibly replace w/olympic rivet. I have done this for several AS that had signs etc. riveted on side that owners wanted removed and holes filled. Works as long as hole not to large for rivet.
