Question Replacement Roller Shades

Have 2004 International with roller window shades. Fabric is deteriorating. Considering Zarcor replacement roller shades which are standard in newer Airstreams.

Anyone with experience with replacement installation?
Did you select toggle cord or mini grip closure device to secure bottom of shade & why?
Did you remove the previous closure snap in the wall (how big is the hole)?
Any other comments? Thanks!

Like these?

Here are the ones I put in my 55 Flying Cloud. Are those the ones you mean? Pricey, but very nice. I used a hold down fitting at the bottom

I retro fitted our Bambi with them and went with the std. toggle.
The toggle is small though and a bit hard to use with fat fingers like mine.
If you are using them over a fixed window consider the hold tabs for the sides if you want to have the ability to have more positions than up or down all the way. On the operable windows the lower blind bar can be held open with the window operators in a raised part way condition.
Ours had mini blinds so some of your Q's dont apply.

I had a 2005 International too, and the window shades in it were standard big box hardware shades. The wood rollers warp due to pressure on the hold down and the fabris has probably gotten sun faded.

You might want to consider the economy route... having shades cut to size at a hardware chain and installing them with the existing hardware. These can also be turned into custom shades by replacing the vinyl shades with a lightweight fabric backed with non-woven interfacing.

If the pricetag for the factory shades doesn't scare you off, any holes that dont mate up with the new shades can be filled with a pop rivet. The shades will need a hold down for towing.

The pricing direct from Zarcor is not horrible and the product is first rate,
They also offer free filler plugs for your unused holes.

Thanks everyone! appreciate the information. I like the look of the top cylinder that contains the roller; my current one has no "header" and looks unfinished. Will consider replacing fabric only; and minimizing # of new holes. Have been trying to upgrade finishes year by year. The Zarcor folks seem very familiar with Airstream installation. thanks again!
