Replacement of curtain rails

We are replacing the curtains in our '72 Argosy 26 and I am considering removing the OE aluminum curtain rails. The bottom rails, especially on the center gaucho, take up valuable bed space and I hit them repeatedly in the night. I want something that doesn't stand out very far from the wall and is inconspicuous for the center gaucho area and the wrap around window area. Has anyone used the Recmar 5400 plastic rail or similar with snap tape on the curtains for this type of application??

Thanks for any feedback.
