Repainting with Zolatone

I want to repaint the inside og my 1961 Bambi with Zolatone, except the stock colors currently available from Zolatone do not match my original color, and I want to get it as close as possible. One option is to experiment by mixing different colors of Zolatone to get a closer match. The problem with this is that Zolatone is only avaialble by the Gallon in my area and it is about $100/gallon.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

Unfortunately, Zolatone has minimal color selections when purchasing it by the gallon. You can select from a broader color pallette if you order 5 gallons...which is probably more that you will need for your Bambi. And if you order more than that, I think 50 gallons or something you can customize your own color. You may want to put the word out to others looking to do the same with regards to going in-together to meet the 5-gallon minimum, although logistically that may be tough.

It is also a product which is best applied by a professional as there are special techniques and equipment required not available at most rental places.

Sorry, let us know if you come up with any other solutions...

Thank you Sheri - how do I find out the color selection at the 5 gallon level?

Is there anyone out there interested in buying 2.5 gallons if there is a good match to the original Bambi color? Andy from Colorado?

The best way to find out who your local distributor is at the Zolatone Distributor Website

These distributors are generally geared more towards the design community than the end user...if you know an architect or interior designer that can help you, you may have better pricing & results getting the information you are looking for.

The local distributor should be able to hook you up with a installer in your area though, if you don't know a designer.

As far as "sharing" a minimum order, that may have to be done on the installer level as the local distributors are individually operated - in other words, the same painter may have to paint both trailers, as the distributors may not cross territories. Most installers are only going to want to use product they purchased directly from a distributor themselves, for warranty purposes. The distributor probably won't work with you on spliting the custom order...I could be wrong, but my experience is that they generally aren't real accomodating on small orders.

There is also an issue of over shaking the product. This breaks down the colored particles and negates the speckled effect of the application. So with the uncontrolled environment of shipping it, this could create problems as well.

I hate to sound negative, because I love the product. We have it in our trailer and I've used it on commercial interior design projects over the years. It's just, logistically, it could be tough on a small scale, not impossible, just tough...

Good luck ~
