Removing wall vinyl from (nterior)

I like many attempted to remove the wall vinyl with compounds, a heat gun, and brut strength with not too much success. I decided to paint over it and used a paint stripper called JASCO ( use the kind that says sprayble on the front, when applied it melted the paint and primer off the vinyl wall covering like butter. After I wiped the paint off I noticed a piece of the vinyl had bubbled up. I applied a second coat and waited for about ten minutes and the vinyl started to bubble up from the aluminum skin inside. It is not easy or fun work but 10 hours in and my 1967 26’ Overlander is almost an all aluminum interior. The aluminum underneath looks great and is in perfect condition.

There is a trick to amplify the results - once you've rolled on the gel cover it with a sheet of drop cloth plastic to keep it from evaporating - it concentrates the solvents against the vinyl, and (I think) helps in removal process if you can peel and scrape into the sheeting to bundle it up and discard it...

Is wall vinyl the paint that was put on the early airstreams? Mine is a 61 Bambi. I would love to get down to the silver inside.

I'm not sure on the 61 Bambi but on the inside of my 1967 Overlander there was a coat of paint and underneath that is a vinyl that looks cloth like as it has a cloth pattern. You coud try to remove some in a spot that does not always show and see what happens. The off white brown stuff is the vinyl. I'll post some of the finished walls when I get back to the trailer.
