northern Indiana upholstery

Does anyone know a good but inexpensive place to get upholstery done? We need to do the goucho and possibly the bedroom. We are located in northern Indiana about an hour from Fort Wayne. Thanks!

I know a good place in Blue Island, Illinois. He did my gaucho. He does car interiors primarily, but did a fabulous job on my couch. His shop is 30 minutes from my house in Schererville, IN. I'm not sure how far you are from me, but I'm in Northwest Indiana.

Could you post a photo of your reupholstered gaucho for us. I reupholstered mine last winter and the ultraleather didn't hold up as well as I had hoped. Now I'm looking to go professional.

I don't know exactly what he charges, since I traded him a bin of corn for the job! (his family has a farmstand in the summer & we're vegetable farmers). I purchased my own fabric online & brought it to him. I don't have a closer picture, but trust me, he does really nice work!

There's an interesting textiles (fabric) store not too far from you in Toto, IN. I don't know what you are looking for but they seem to have some interesting stuff:

That's where I bought my ultraleather for a really good price. In hindsight I suspect the price was so good because it was factory reject. It split right next to the stitch-line within months.

Dave, the guy who did my upholstering, told me about a place in Chicago that has tons of fabric. The address is 2121 21st Street (easy to remember!). I went there with my daughter to get fabric for her Argosy. She got some really nice stuff for $6.99/yard. The store is 3 stories of more rolls of fabric than I've ever seen in my life. It was overwhelming! My daughter is going to try to sew her covers herself. She doesn't have a complicated couch like my trailer has....hers are simply rectangular (plus she has a new baby & lack of $ for couch covering!) I'm trying to sew her some bibs for the baby & actually managed to screw some of those up--can't imagine sewing a couch!

Fowler's in Paducah,ky specializes in Airstream upholstery. They just did ours.Great job! They advertise in Blue Beret.

I've seen Fowler's work and it is very good. I got a quote from them to reupholster my couch and booth and it was $2,800 for regular grade fabric! I could have bought brand new furniture from Flexteel for less than that.
