Looking for Vinyl Clad Aluminum Interior Skins

Hello all,

I am looking for vinyl clad aluminum interior skins for a 68 Caravel to complete a restoration. New or used.

Any suggestions for where to find them would be appreciated. Does anyone manufacture them?

If there are any existing threads to this topic please post, I did not have any luck with my searches.

Thanks

When you say "vinyl clad", do you mean the off-white vinyl that was used in the 70's trailer, or a clear vinyl so that you get a coated, shiny appearance similar to the CCD models of today?

If it is the former, then you probably are going to have to get used skins from trailers that have been refurbished with new, shiny aluminum skins, and try to retrofit them.

If you want new, shiny interior skins with a plasti-coat like the new CCD models, then you have two options.

1)You can buy that very aluminum from Airstream dealers. It is freakishly expensive--seems like I was quoted around $250 for a 4x12 sheet.

2) You can buy raw aluminum sheet and then try to wax it or paint it with a clear coat to keep every fingerprint from leaving a mark. I can buy the raw sheet in a 5052 for about $60 for a 4x12 sheet. I just bought 9 sheets to redo my interior. Haven't figured out the clear-coat part yet for sure.

There is another thread along these lines here:

good luck!

Yes it's the former..off-white vinyl that was used in the 70's trailer, I need to bit to complete a full restoration of my Caravel.

I suppose regularly checking the classified is my only shot, which I will do.

Thanks for the response, it is appreciated.

Don't have the exact measurements, I can get them next week. An estimate would be 18 square feet. It is to cover the cabinet doors above the gaucho, kitchen, and kitchen table in my 68 Caravel.

Old thread, I know. But also looking for the same thing for our ‘66. But much less. Just need some patches here and there. Anything would be appreciated.

Anybody have a source? So many people “gut” these trailers. Give me your “trash!”

Chopped it up and put it in the aluminum recycle bin. I do have a small 15" X 19" piece that missed the bin. It's kinda of a puke yellow in color. It's from a 71 Globetrotter.
