Is it better practice to remove all synthetic woodgrain wallpaper before painting?

Hi everyone.
We are prepping the inside walls for paint and wondered if it is best to simply remove the faux woodgrain before paint rather than paint over and hope the paper stays adhered well.

Also, there are a few screw holes that need to be patched, which makes me worried about patching them and then painting over (thinking it may peel or lift)

Oh, and I also have the same scenario with the bathroom wall vinyl (over wood wall)

I painted 2 1/2 yrs ago and it is holding up well. Most of the vinyl was loose enough to remove easily but in just a couple of areas {the ones hardest to get to} it would be falling off in the corners but stuck real good in others so I primed and painted over it. No problem. Sal.

Just getting ready to patch and then paint interior skin/walls of a '91, 34' Airstream Classic.
Sounds like I should peel off as much of the unstable vinyl as possible and then patch holes/paint/prime.
Still thinking about peeling all vinyl in bath prior to painting with Grizzlygrip.
What is best to patch holes in interior skin?
I was thinking of using Bondo or some other type automotive patch?
Any thoughts/suggestions?

I've had good results with Durham's Wood Putty on interior surfaces. It is available just about anywhere. Sal.

I used some wood filler with hardener. It seemed to work well. It sets in so well that I would be surprised if I ever have a problem.
