frayed not
Well on our last trip out I jerked the blind down a wee bit hard and broke the cord.
I have put off fixing it long enough and today attempted to complete the job.
I was thinking there were two cords tied together in the top part, but now i am convinced the cord just broke.
I did fix it by tying it back together but the knot is too tight and the blind won't slide up and down properly. The cord just needs replacing. There are a couple of places where it is very frayed.
Anyway went to HD & Ace looking for cord replacements (might as well get a spool if possible)
Neither store has them.
Anyone know where i can find it??
I forget who makes the blinds but i am sure the cords are all the same,
Thanks -- I will post pix if anyone wants to see the blind and what i am talking about.

If these are standard cords like are in household mini-blinds, you can get it at a sewing center like Jo-Ann Fabrics. It will be with their other drapery making and repairing supplies, maybe in the upholstery department.

John hd, Home Depot might be a more likely source for the "ladders". They have quite a few different sizes. Just yesterday I bought a 29" X 64" vinyl mini blind for my home at my local HD. The price was only $5.74.
The slats are 1" wide and I know from experience that a small dog finds it very easy to remove the slats from the ladders.

thanks for the tip, the reason i want the ladders, is because the wood blinds i have in the excella were special order.
i would like to keep them and just replace the "ladders"
someone must sell it in bulk.

I didn't notice ladders at Jo-annes, but that didn't mean they didn't have them.
When i was looking for the cords sunday the guy at the ace hardware store said i should be able to get the cords at a store that sells blinds. Nothing comes to mind currently, but i am sure if they sell the blinds they also sell ladders and cords.
Good luck!

If Joanne Fabrics does not have them, try contacting an Upholstery material wholesaler/supplier. They will quite often have that type of product. You may have to buy a 50 foot roll, but it is still less expensive than new blinds.
Also give Calico Corners a call. they carry some of that stuff, if they do not have it they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Betsy being the cheapskate that I am I too had the same problem. JoAnn's did have the cord, but I didn't like the price. I went to the local tackel shop and found some 200 lb test fishing line, braided and it was just the same color green as my curtains. I bought 200 yard of it for the same price as a small spool at JoAnns. Only problem is it only comes in shades of green at the tackle shop I was in.

Tarheel,
The spool at joannes (actually a wadded up mess that took 30 minutes to unravel.) only cost about 2 bucks, Had i thought about how simple it was and that something could have been subtituted I would have gone with the very colorful cord they did have at HD. But since this trailer is new to us, bright yellow, green, blue, yellow and red cord: well, it would have been different.
I am sure others will break and at least i know it don't have to be a specific thing.
Thanks
Tom & Betsy

When things break on the road (do they ever break any where else) I just do what I have to do to get me back home. A friend had his antena break in Florida and he lost the spring. We went to ace hardware and looked for one to replace it. We had a sample from another trailer. One of the workers there smiled and said he thought he knew of a spring that would work, he opened a sprinkler head and pulled out the spring, looked the same. He bought the sprinker head for less than $5 and we used the spring, worked fine.
