Don't you hate it when....

I found the head of a small pop rivet laying on my countertop. It's the size common in the interior.
But, I can't find any missing.
Is it possible this one was the byproduct of assembly and has hidden somewhere for 7 years? Only now to leap out and drive me crazy?
It's like the one sock you find in the laundry.

Sooner or later you'll see where it came from. In the mean time, don't worry about it. It's one rivet out of hundreds.

They never found the Missing Rivet when" London Bridge Came Falling Down"... either. Sure got tired of singing that in Elementary Aluminum Riveting School.

Probably the Rivet that was in the hair of one of those assembling your Airstream. I would report it to Lost and Found. Could be a Reward.

It is the same feeling you get when you arrive at your campsite, open the door and find a 2 inch screw sitting on the floor...

Better than if it landed in your breakfast cereal and you bit into it and cracked a tooth.

Interior rivets don't matter. It's the exterior ones ya gotta worry about

Our 25FB has 12 years and 60,000 miles on it. We've popped a handful of interior rivets. This summer we found a rivet head sitting on top of a plastic bin that lives on top of another box, on the top shelf of the closet. There are no missing rivets anywhere in the upper closet area. I think this one will remain a mystery.

Hi

Does it glow in the dark? Maybe it was left by aliens ....

There are various riveted spots inside the trailer you simply can't see. If something goes wrong"pop" there ... no practical way to find it. Even if you did, getting to the location with a rivet tool probably would be impossible.

Move on and enjoy camping !!!!

Don''t you hate it when...

The bolts shear off your passenger side tire and you are in the fast lane passing someone. More dangerous and confounding than a popped rivet. Triple A, and our insurance couldn't get us a tow, so we had to get a "good old boy" in North Carolina to come tow us to his horse farm where he fixed everything enough so we could get home. Now it languishes in a shop to get fixed. Been 6 weeks, have heard nothing other than Airstream was closed for the holidays and waiting for parts. Luckily insurance will pay for 75% of it. We laughed when we got the estimate. For the same amount of money you could have your house reroofed, or get 1 tooth implant.

I have found that when I run the bright beam of a flashlight over all the rows of rivets inside the AS, I always find more missing than what I saw with bare eye.

Hah! In just 4 1/2 years of Airstream experience I have accumulated a small pile of such detritus, origin as yet unknown. Yes, it drives me crazy also. Do you suppose there is hidden in each Airstream a dispenser of random hardware which is activated in a frequency roughly equivalent to the amount of consternation shown by the owner to the previous discovery. I am amazed at the variety; rivets, machine screws and bolts, wood screws. All shapes and sizes. I suspect I will never find the original home of most of these. It does provide a brainless activity for me when I'm "hiding out" in the Airstream in the storage unit on cold winter days.

I had 3 interior rivets pop on first trip with the Airstream. I had already purchased the Airstream rivet kit. They are very easy to replace. It likely is just the panels settling in but you can try backing off the weight distribution slightly to reduce stress on the frame. Lowering the tire pressure if you are running at max pressure can help.

What ever you do don't pull out and remove the drawers, what you find underneath will keep you up at night. Not to mention that rats nest of wires in the 12v electric bay, that's terrifying and may require many weekends of uncomfortable work to feel happy about.

Yup…..that’s a surprise rivet. Happens all the time. Screws, nuts, bolts, I just toss them in my “junk” drawer in the trailer and at some point I will repurpose a nut, bolt or screw that was discovered.

I have lost two inside my upper cabinet above the kitchen counter. Don’t see it until I opened the cabinet. One is in a position that I would have to remove the cabinet to replace it. Still not replaced two years later.

Lots of different models and price points on this product. Could you provide model info on yours? I can do simple rivet replacement with my manual tool but when the empty rivet hole requires “drilling out”, it doesn’t work. Does your electric rivet gun handle that? Thanks.
