Question Does Anyone Have?????? Goucho Arms

The goucho arms to fit a 1961 Bambi. I am almost certain that a 61 Overlander has the same arms. And perhaps any of the '61's.

I took them off my front couch when redoing 7+ years ago and I miss them terribly. Even a template and explanation of how it is constructed would do.

Thanks in advance!

If you're not in a big hurry, I can get you a drawing in a week or so.

Our 63 Bambi has "cushion" arms...

Hello,

We have a 1963 Bambi and our front goucho had "arms" that were essentially foam pillow "arms" covered in upholstery fabric. We had them recovered, and they work fine. Not sure if that is what you are looking for. But I will attach a picture or two of shots that show them as "original". These are "before restoration pics". Are you looking for dimensions?

Not sure if 63 had the same item...as yours

61 Bambi cushions

I have one of the cushions which sit at either end of the front sofa of our 61 Bambi. The other is long gone.

I'm on the road for the next week or so, but I can get you pix and measurements after that if it would help.

This is the cushion which is curved along one side to match the front curve of the Bambi. I believe that the Overlander is wider, but the curve may well be the same.

Let me know if you want the pix etc.

Cheers,
Brian

I am not sure if the arms had the portion that hangs down in front. But they did curve along the side wall. I think I need the dimensions from either CaddyGrn or bfk.

Thanks all of you.

bfk, I have a '61 Bambi so yours would be most accurate I assume.

CaddyGrn, wish I'd had the sense to keep mine as you did.

I need the shelf dimensions

Anyone who might have the time to send me the dimensions of the shelf behind the Gaucho. A drawing or pattern would really help with the curve involved. ALSO.... need the same for the rear bed shelf in a 69 Caravel....I know....thats pushing it.
Thanks,

Well, sometimes it is a curse... I hate to throw stuff away... a real junk collector at heart.

If you decide you need measurements from my pillow arms and better pics... just PM me and that will help me remember. (Too many "senior moments" sometimes...)

I think you may want to ask some of the "experts" around the forum about the shelf dimensions. Each trailer is rather custom made in its own way, and I know after our shell off for the floor replacement everything tweaked just a tiny bit.. and it seemed that fitting all the items required some slight "negotiations".... and some colorful metaphors uttered by my husband.

You might want to make a cardboard template, it may give you the best measurements.

Good luck!

Hi there,

Here are some pictures and measurements on the end cushion from our Bambi. The grid in the picture is one inch squares.

If you need more detail let me know.

Cheers,
Brian

Oops,

For some reason not all the pics went through, so here are the rest. Plus a better version of the outline.

UNder goucho

Hi, We"re new to this site and was wondering what the support pannels under the front goucho of 1963 Bambi 16 ft. land yacht look like. We are restoring as much as we can, Also, the front couch or goucho, what goes behind it to hold the front leanback cushion in place? Is there another cushion? Bubbles

Hi, and welcome to the forums!

You ask about the support panels under the front goucho of a 1963 Bambi. Do you have a Bambi or Land Yacht? We have a 63 Bambi, and the front goucho is supported by a frame structure with plywood that rather sits on top and lifts up so you can access the fresh water tank that is underneath. A Land Yacht may have a different construction, I am not sure. I will search for pictures and post a link if I can. The leanback cushions are sort of funky in 63 Bambi's... they don't give much support. We have a small wooden shelf that the leanback cushions lean up against. But I stuff our sleeping pillows behind the cushions and it works fairly well.

I would post pictures of what you are curious about if you can, it will help you get the best answers.

Welcome and search away! I will return and post a link.

Bubbles,

Here is a link on my husband's thread on our 1963 Bambi rebuild. The pictures at this link show the framing of the street side goucho, if you scroll back a page you will see the front goucho. Somewhere if you go further forward (higher numbers) you may see the plywood that supports the cushions...not sure if we have pics or not. Good luck!

Under Goucho

Thanks everybody that tried to help. I'm not real good on this one eyed monstser thing, but I'll keep trying. I'll get pictures of what we need of the front goucho support. Yes, it does say Bambi Land Yachet on the outside, by the door. I don't know the difference either, but I'll keep searching. We don't believce the cushions were complete for this unit. It has a side couch with base cushion and 2 smalled cushions for the back, one tucking under a shelve. We had thought that maybe the same thing applied to the front, but only came with two not three cushions. Putting the bed pillows there makes seince. This is great to be able to talk to anyone. I hope we can be lighthearted too to put up fun things. Bubbles PS, what do the rivets stand for?
