Dinette Upholstery Question

Ok, so the cushions are done and we are quite pleased with how they have come out. Next step is to redo the padding on the top of the bench backs and the fabric on the back of the bench facing the couch. Has anybody done this? I can't figure out how these are attached and I'd like to get an idea before I start tearing stuff apart.

Bench top padding:

Bench back fabric:

Thanks! -Alden

The bench may need to come out before you can get the padding and the blue material off the back.

To remove the padding, I would start by checking the buttons to see if they have fasteners underneath. My father was an upholster-ER and sometimes he would have to (for a specialty piece like this) just start slicing it open to see how to put it back together. You will not be using the old fabric anyhow - so start cutting it open.

Yep, the bench had to come out. It came out pretty easily, now to remove the million staples holding the padding on.
