Smile curtain measurements

Does anyone know how much yardage it takes to make curtains for a 1989 25' Excella?

Search for threads..

There are several older threads on curtains.. Try searching using link in blue bar above and word curtain or fabric...

You're likely to find references as well to Ambruso in Florida, who has made thousands of sets of fitted Airstream curtains (including ours for '88 25 Excella) last year.. Expensive, but extremely well done and easy to install... Several curtain makers and refurb shops routinely advertise in "Blue Beret" magazine of WBCCI, but if you search on Ambruso or Fowler you can find their contact info..

Related to this - how many times the width of a window should you make the curtain?

This is funny because I was figuring out yardage for our 30ft '97 Excella today... I came up with 8.5 yards of 60 wide fleece for the front half of our trailer. 11 yrds of something of smaller width 54 maybe 42. Now this is without lining and with only a one inch pleat.
The curtains that came with our trailer have 2 inch double pleats and lining. I was looking for a low cost relatively low sew option, fleece is great because it cuts light, insulates and I can cut edges without hemming etc. Sadly I don't know the window layout of your trailer, but adding a double pleat like the original window coverings I come up with 26 yards (+another 26 yards of lining) thinking you need to pleat 2 inches for every 3 inches you have staright. Pleat to pleat my curtains measure 2 3/4 with the elastic and tabs in the middle.
I'd continue to look around and see what info you can find. I may make these curtains and be surprised when the don't fit, but $50 of fleece with my Joann's coupon won't kill me. We've priced the others and wow nice but $$$.
My formula: length of curtains around trailer 23ft---> 276 inches /3=92 (#of 1 inch pleats for the 23ft length) 92+276= 368 /36= 11 yrds (2 inch pleat I would add "92" twice to your total inches) You can always add a 10% fudge factor also. HTH!

Angie,
I have curtains from Fowlers. I have met her several times, and will tell you there is NONE better. She probably already has curtains to match your unit in stock, already made up, right there at her shop. She knows most floor plans. The big thing, due to my oversight, mine had to be washed last year. She told me how, I followed the instructions to the letter hanging them up while barely damp. They drew tight to the hangers, the pleats look as if they had just been ironed and BRAND NEW! Unless this is just something you absolutely have to do or are super good at, give Fowlers a call. Talk with her, she's great.....and no, I have no interest to her business- I live 500 miles away.

Curtains or maybe blinds

My wife had a woman make up some real P.O.S. trash X-Mart curtains and I was thinking about replacing them. Roughly how much is a set of decent ones? I have a '67 22' Safari. The other option is wooden mini-blinds, anybody do these in lieu of curtains? Fog

Fog, Don't remember what they cost- a quick call will answer that though.
I have seen the wooden ones. Imagine having to clean them when it comes time? Also, in reality, I ise curtains to provide complete closed area (I sometimes am unclothed and it isn't pretty!) and the wooden ones are not 100% effective. Weight might also be a consideration.
