curtain, curtain rods etc for 1968 soveriegn
Where can I buy the curtains & rods that the new models have now.
We are tired of the plastic breaking on the rods of our 68. I have seen a curtain rod & would like to use those with the blue curtains with white palm trees that are in the newer models. Any suggestions.
Thanks.
Ann

A parts stocking Airstream dealer, can help you with the new style drape moldings that have been used since 1973.
They will also have the drape tabs as well.
You will need to provide how many feet of both the top and moldings that you want to use.
You must also decide if you want to use the "T" tabs, or the "G" tabs, or both, such as Airstream does sometimes.

The curtains you are describing are what comes standard in the
Ocean Breeze Airstream.
Click here to see the Ocean Breeze.
The curtains in your unit and the curtains are differant in size and shape. In other words, ordering the curtains from the Ocean Breeze will not work in your unit.
There is a lady in Tenn, who goes by the name of Silver Treads in these forums, who makes curtains and can make them out of whatever fabric you like.
When it come to the G-tabs and T-tabs Andy was talking about, here are some links to pictures of them.
Click here to see the G-tabs
Click here to see the T-tabs

want curtains rods & cabinets for 68 sovereign *** see attachement ***
Does anyone know where I can find the curtain rods in this photo and do they come any longer?
I do not want to use the G or T tabs for our new curtains.
They dry out & break way to fast. I am also looking to get a galley (kitchen) cabinet that looks like this for our 68 sovereign. Can I get these from Ohio? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. Ann

Ann, I would guess that wall shape and a few things have changed since 68, I'd be inclined to either custom build cabinets or make templates of the wall curve and have a cabinet builder make you one. Sorry can't help on the curtain rods, but sure someone can.

Once you get your curtain rods, get ahold of Silverthreads (user here) and have her custom make your curtains for you. She made them for our 1969 tradewind and they turned out incredible. You pick out the fabric and send it to her and she sends them back ready to hang. Very reasonably priced and great quality.

Hi Ann. I dont think that is rods in the picture. It is the same rails that have been used for years only small ones. They use the G tabs. I made a gaucho cover for a lady that put rods in hers because she didnt like the rails either. She used small ones she picked up at walmart. I also did it for my bathroom and kitchen in our 72 Overlander. I used an adjustable rod on the top and placed it up inside the valance. There should be some pictures on here. I will see if I can locate them.
As for the tabs, you have to remember that yours are almost 40yrs old. So if you can get that many years out of new ones, you wouldn't have change out the rails.

Thanks so much for everyones help. My tabs are newer, the previous owner redid curtains etc to sell the unit. I lose about 2 or 3 ever time we use the airstream so I thought I could solve the problem with a rod. Thanks again. Ann

Ann. Can you post a picture of your tabs? I was thinking, G and T tabs werent in the 68 models that I have done. If it is what is called Kirsch (may be spelled wrong), they do tend to break. They can be replaced by Large Curtain carriers with elastic and that should help.
