Cleaning Motorhome Blinds

Hi, my 1984 Motorhome has blinds in the living room the blinds are made of yarn woven over thin wooden slats. You can't see the wooden slats except at the edges. The blinds are soiled and I would like to clean them. Any Ideas?

I was thinking of taking them down and then hanging them on my deck and then hosing them down after spraying them with a water/detergent mix. My concern would be if the wooden slats would warp, or the covering material would shrink, or if the material has deteriorated from sun exposure and would fall apart.

Any experience with cleaning these blinds

Check the phone book for professional cleaners - many specialize in this kind of cleaning for permanent installs in homes. I wold be worried about shrinkage as well as strange interaction between the wood and fabric.

I have the same "woven woods". Mine are silvery white fabric intertwined. I used a fabric spray cleaner which seemed to help quite a lot. Sprayed brushed them lightly and let them dry. My problem with those was the plastic part that attached to the track breaking. I finally came up with a method that works, but would like to replace them someday with Day Night shades.

Thanks ALan,
Do you happen to recall a brand for the cleaner you used
