Question Clean & Paint Walls 1973 Argosy

Hi there,

Does anyone have recommendations on products to clean the original walls of the trailer. Also, would love to know how to prep walls for painting and what types of paint would be the best. Thank you so much. Beth

Beth, there are as many opinions on paint as there are Airstreams. On our 66 we stripped the walls, cleaned with TSP, primed with Kilz Adhesion and topcoat with Zolatone Flex roll on. On the 55, doing about the same except spraying Zolatone Polomyx Airless today. Reason for Zolatone is the originality and toughness of the paint. Hoffman Arch in California had some articles lately on the Sherwin Williams product they use. They have high end trailers so I feel they do the research on paint. The main thing is paint and primer. Good luck, Bubba

On our 74, we primed with Kilz and painted with premium interior latex paint. It's been a couple years and held up fine so far.
