Any new fabric ideas?

Am looking for a dog proof, spill proof fabric. Am not opposed to a faux leather or vinyl covered fabric, if it looks nice. I need to either wipe it clean or wash it in the washer. The old clear plastic covers do what I want, but don't have the look I want.

Has anyone used any very real looking fake leather? If so, is it a brand name and where do you buy it?

Thanks,
Pat

I'm not a fan of faux leathers. I'd rather use the real thing. For textiles, have a look at this:

Performance and stain resistant fabric for upholstery, furniture, pet beds

Pretty fantastic stuff.

Here's some nice stuff, doesn't show the things you don't want to show.

fabric

www.winterbeachmodern.com had fabulous textiles for a fraction of their original cost. YOU can always spray the fabric with scotchguard and it really works if you want double protection. I have had very good luck with the people at winterbeach. Good luck ! gail
Our cushions are almost ready, we have a big dog, and I can not wait to post some photos of soon to be now as opposed to what our trailer was when we picked her up.

The new Airstream Classics have a beautiful faux leather. I thought for sure it was real when I touched it. It's supposed to be breatheable and hold up better than real leather (That's what the salesman said...)

There are many leather-like vinyls that one would be hard put to say were not real leather by look and feel, and there are ultra-suedes that are great, too. Go to a fabric store like Hancock Fabrics or Joann's and look around. You might be pleasantly surprised at what you find. We have used them for slip covers and like them a lot...easy cleanup, kid-proof, animal-proof, look great, and much more forgiving than real leather produced (not to mention cost).

Thanks!

Thanks for all of the great ideas!

Can an average DIY sew with leather look vinyl? I am thinking about doing not only the Airstream, but sofa and chairs in the house.

what do you think?

I am going to put all new interior in the Curtis Wright. This is the original fabric.....I know its WAY OUT of new fashion....but so is the Curtis. I'm leaning toward this fabric if I can find something close (any ideas as to where it might be found.) I may chicken out under popular pressure too.

This place has over 100 pages of just floral prints. Here are just a few I found that resemble yours. If you searched all 100 pages, you may even find a match!

Rivet How about outdoor fabrics?

There are 2 pages worth at good prices ($10.79 or less) at Outdoor Fabric. I got a yard of Outdoor Fabric - Tropica Tabacco Floral Outdoor Fabric to do the curtains over the sink and the bathroom shade in my Excella. The ones over the sink are faded dark brown hopsack, and the shade matches the wall print, orchids and bamboo. Should match well. It looks very good in person, now just need to do it.

I have dogs too and I had my sofa done up in Sunbrella fabric. I used the furniture fabric Sunbrella has not the heavy awning fabric. Stains wipe up easily and it is holding up well and showing no wear.

I personally love the old-fashioned florals, and that gray background would be good to hide dirt. I'm looking for the "Field and Stream" fabric that Starcraft used in some of its trailers in the late 90s, you know, hunting dogs and trees in brown and aqua, basically. I'll hunt for a picture. Appreciate the links to sources that so many have posted.

I bought a couple of lightweight quilted comforters from Target-kind of a dark brown with a "woodgrain" stitch in cream, the back is cream-colored also. I am going to replace the original 1966 curtains in the '66 Globetrotter with this fabric (if everything goes as planned, anyway!) Cream side out, brown side in. I think I can use the old curtains as a pattern. Maybe a vintage tea towel for the kitchen shade. Now if it would just warm up enough that my hands won't freeze to every surface outside!

hi I just made simple curtains for our flying cloud with the Hawaiian print fabric from fabric mart in Hawaii. We love them. they are on a rod. I used the 50 poly 50 cotton and I think it will wash up well with the dogs and travels.
The faux leather fabric should be available through a marine or auto upholstrey supply shop locally. There is one here in floriday called ABCO. The pleather is beautiful and inexpensive.....7-10.00 per yard.
