Wyoming or Rocky Mountains: Remote Camping, Made EASY

Purchase a DeLorme Atlas for the Rocky Mountain State you want to explore. They will give you an idea where major and secondary roads to travel are available, as well as some more remote roads. To get lost, but can turn around... sometimes.

These large scale maps, do not include most smaller graded BLM and Forest Service roads. You can purchase those maps from Forest Service offices scattered among many towns in Wyoming. Once you discover an area you want to travel more into remote locations, quadrangles are a bit overkill, but useful. Some may have not been updated for 40 years... many of those roads have been improved since the maps were printed.

Have the passenger track your travel as you enter... to know where to... exit later. Mark the GPS location and Elevation where you find a camping spot. Make comments on the blank borders of the Atlas's page.

Wyoming has many access routes into the mountains... and how to get out. This also applies to Utah, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico where we Off the Grid the most often.

Can you get lost? Not using the modern GPS units that Garmin Overlander as your Guide, to enter and to exit with minimal issues. Best purchase we made for Boondocking!

You may want to add their experiences with modern satellite systems to explore the back country, where camping spots are fantastic.

Even locate Service Stations and distances as you travel.

I include some photographs of Ahhhhhhhh... campsites we mark onto our Atlas and can return whenever we happen to be in the area. This Season is over due to Snow being a major road closer at elevation.

Plan your trip this Winter and make it a Vacation... taking photographs of Ahhhhhhhh! This is not for everyone. If not sure... ask your Dog. They are smart and know where to run off the leash. Humans... don't.

Ray you have found some beautiful spots for you, your wife, and the trusty heelers.
Been trying to find an Atlas/Gazeteer for Colorado but they are hard to come by.
Find lots of Atlas/recreation guides. Not what I'm hunting for.

Folding Ramp for Dog Exit and Airstream Entrance

An excellent ramp for entering and exiting... for pets and people.

PetStep folds to 3' and unfolds to about 6 feet. Put a small support under it when used for the Airstream entry, as the hinge would be the weak point for Human Beans who often weigh more than a dog.

($90 online in 2016 for the F350 and 2014 25 foot International, so the dogs could walk down, out of their Pet Porters in the F350.

We kept it for the 27FBQ and it is great to have. Also use it with the 2019 Oliver Elite II.

Our Blue Heelers will run UP or DOWN with 4 paw traction.

Dog Ramp that Human Beans can use Entering Airstream

Dog Ramp for them to enter and exit into the Tow Vehicle and Trailer. Six feet, folding into 3 feet and load into the bed of the pickup.

Human Bean Ramp for them to enter and exit into the Airstream or SOB Brand Travel Trailer... like an Oliver Elite II.

PetStep... we bought on the Internet a long time ago.

Added some photographs. Three feet folded, Six feet unfolded.

Posted this somewhere, but we have three Blue Heelers. Two in pet porters on the back seat of the F350 and the third on folded pads for comfort.

I will lift the Pet Porter Heelers up into their Pet Porter as they are eager to go and the same with the third Heeler onto the rear padded floor.

I have used old bed spreads over the seat and back to protect them. The more the better. Ample folded blanket on the Pet Porter inside flooring for comfort. Added a small towel to cover the front so they cannot look outside when moving... or flip it up if you like. The do not care, either way.

(Found some photographs I did not see earlier... that add some detail.)
