The ones listed in the link that Richard mentioned above are the only ones I've heard of near to Tucson. Any other Tucsonans know of places to boon dock nearby?

I, too, am looking for information about great camp sites where my husband and I might come for some months in the winter and then leave our 25" Safari there (safely). Thanks, Jamie Cherington, Vermont

Hey there...

If you were wanting to camp in a public camp ground I would recommend Gilbert Ray Camp Ground in the Tucson Mountain Park...it's run by Pima County, has electricity, water and dump station available but no water or sewer hookups. It is on the west side of the Tucson Mountains, so it is a ways to Tucson, but not too bad, and you are really out from town in a beautiful desert setting.
NRPR - Gilbert Ray Campground

Catalina State Park is very close in to Tucson on north Oracle Road near Ora Valley and the NW side... there are water & electric hookups, no sewer hookups...water & dump station available...

Here are the websites or phone numbers for several Tucson area privately run RV parks...check them out...I'm sure you'll find something that is to your liking. (Some are 55+)

The private ones are from Woodall's and Trailer Life Directory. I can't vouch for any of those, but some of them look pretty nice... My favorite is Gilbert Ray.

Good Luck and enjoy your time in Tucson!

Boondock: Costco parking lot

When I needed a set of Goodrich tires, while on the road, for my Toyota Tundra several years ago, we found two Costco stores in Tucson (we are members). We happened to go to the Costco in the NE part of town. The parking area is HUGE. I parked NW of the store where the 18 wheelers park to deliver their loads in the morning. I faced the trailer towards the apartment complexes that were shielded from the parking lot with trees and fence, about 150 yards to the south. It probably would not hurt if you were a Costco member... Then you can be there to catch the early opening for groceries, etc. There appeared to be a security vehicle that cruised this large, maybe ten acres or more of asphalt and hardpack lot. I had no problem, had no one complaining and the next day we were on our way. I would think if you were not a nuisance and could stay out of the way several days might be possible.

If you are looking for a shady location... forget this spot. Only sunset provided any shade and the AS awning was a bonus.
