Personally I think the factory installed is a waste of money

If you're going to use more than minimal electricity when boondocking you're going to need more solar panels. You're going to want lithium batteries, and you're going to want a 3000 watt inverter. So everything except the two panels (which are the inexpensive part) you get from the factory will be thrown away. I'd not get the factory package and take it somewhere that specializes in solar for RVs and get it done right.

I agree the factory solar package is a waste of money. We bought a international 30 in 2017. I like a.m. solar for their pre-designed packages and they are very easy to work with. I do not agree that you need a lithium set up to run your furnace and what it appears you want to do. We bought a AM Solar 400 W Package with 4SP 100 panels ($2,000) and had it shipped to Colonial AS. I’ve then purchased from Powerstride battery two Lifeline AGM batteries, GPL -6CT, 6 V batteries and had those shipped to colonial ($820). Colonial did install for $1700 and had a difficult time trying to get # 6 wire from the roof to battery box. Yes the 300 amp hour batteries do fit in the stock battery box, I did have to make an extension as the batteries are taller and colonial put that on for me.The factory solar package was $2200 at the time. I spent just over $4400 and I feel I have a system that will last many years and is a good starting point. My advice to you is do not order the factory package and do nothing now. Take delivery of your beautiful Airstream and start to research a.m. solar packages and look for an installer.
Happy Trails to you!
