Sawtooth NRA Boondocking

Anyone know the scoop on boondocking in the Sawtooth Natonal Recreation Area in Idaho? Feel free to point out the best spots

Thumbs up Wow have a great time!!

Have a great trip Rodney, we've been planning a trip out there for a bit, and though I haven't yet been there here's a website with photos of various forest campsites in the sawtooth and throughout the US. I heard that Stanley Lake, ID (recreation.gov) is a great place to camp especially for artists and photographers, not sure though as I haven't been yet. Looking forward to seeing your pictures and hearing about your trip! The powerplant campground near Atlanta, ID is supposed to be nice too, it does have hook ups but gets you out deeper into the sawtooth for hiking, etc.

Stanley Lake FS Campground: not boondocking, but sites are left natural with minimal grooming for parking your unit. We had lots of deer and other wildlife passing by/through our site; dead ahead was the lake and glacier-crested Stanley peak. Nothing beat site # 4 and the only reason I share this is because forum folk are deserving! VERY difficult to reserve, but worth the effort and the drive. The whole area makes for a great vacation. If not boondocking, this may be second best. Wish WE were there~G
