McCall, ID - where to stay?

Heading to McCall, ID possibly to buy a hideout. Pulling 30'. Any thoughts on where to park near lake etc.

Check out
Ponderosa State Park
That is the only park in the area that I know of. I was up in McCall area a couple of weeks ago.

Kenyon,
We go there all the time. Like Michelle said, if you prefer state parks, Ponderosa is fine. There is also the McCall RV resort on the Payette river. Great lodge with indoor pool and nice sites. There are other smaller mom and pop parks as well. It's getting chilly up there so make sure the furnace works. McCall is about 5000 ft, beautiful and expensive.

Steph,
Coming up from Boise you will travel Idaho 55. Heavily used by all traffic from loging trucks to Passenger cars. Many RVs use the road. The trip from Boise up to Round Valley is the worst.

Alternately you can go up US 95 from Fruitland on I84. I have not driven this road.

It is lovely up there but it still gets cold even in the summer.
Oh yeah. It has already snowed up in McCall.

Michelle - By "the worst" do you mean it's a steep grade, or that's it bad because of heavy traffic?

We want to make that trip too, but we'll wait for warm weather. It looks beautiful!

Steph,
Leaving Eagle, just west of Boise and heading up to Horseshoe Bend has a good grade I think 4-6%. then back down again. The road is good but can get busy on Thursday, Friday and Sunday afternoons.
From Horseshoe Bend up to Cascade the road is basicly one lane in each direction with an occasional passing/ slow vehicle lane. It is curvy and slow going but a beautiful drive. Once you get to Round Valley it levels and straightens out. You may want to stop between Horseshoe Bend and Banks and do some river rafting there are several companies and most have family trips.
