Knock, Knock... whose there? Mr. Bear.
Getting ready to leave on our Spring Rockdocking adventure from Colorado to roughing it in Las Vegas, Nevada and rock hunting Nevada, Utah and Wyoming we had a visitor.
No. It was not in Nevada. No. Not Utah. No to Wyoming, as well. It was while the trailer was ready to depart from our home in the "suburbs" of Castle Rock, Colorado.
These prints on the driveway went to the window, above the sink, and the Bear looked into the trailer. The fridge was full of food and the pantry stocked for three to four weeks of rations. The water system primed to remove the air and any "stale" water. The fresh water tank was flushed, hot water tank filled with about 5 gallons of fresh water to keep the weight down to Albuquerque, NM and then to Las Vegas, NV where our camping would begin once we began to come back to Colorado.
So... even though Yellowstone Park has its Bears. And there are plenty in Wyoming... we have bears roaming after their hibernation in Colorado looking... looking into Airstreams for an easy lunch.
About 4AM in the morning our two Blue Heelers were excited to GET outside and began barking to get our attention. We figured a possible Bear or Mountain Lion. Our neighbor said her dog was going... wild about the same time. When I went to see that no newspaper was delivered is when I noticed the footprints on the driveway when I was opening the trailer to make sure everything was working and tied down... and as I was opening the door to the trailer... the one light muddy bear print.
No scratch. No dent, a Bear just wanting a peek into the comforts of an Airstream. Always something...
