how to market our boon docking ready AS

Hi fellow Airstreamers~

In 2019, my Husband and I sold everything and set out on a new lifestyle in our 2019 AS Flying Cloud 30 R Twin. We have it entirely set up for almost unlimited off grid living. Risers, compost toilet, generous solar, etc.
Due to a series of tragic life events, the least not being the death of one of our sons, we had to ditch our plans. We are back in a bricks and sticks, trying to regain footing. We have decided that we are ready to let go of our dreams and hence are looking for some new adventurers to take ownership of our camper. We have had little too no success in selling on AS Classifieds and other platforms. Help~where are we going wrong? Never thought it would be hard to sell an AS !

Just an opinion not any expertise here.
Took a look at your advertisement and it looks good and the price seems appropriate. It may just take more time and that one special buyer who wants that particular model of used trailer. Our sympathies for your loss.

Nit picking it a bit, the advertisement itself could use some verbiage and photo cleanup just to fine tune it. It's a little confusing with the truck and trailer listed together but the verbiage runs together without any real highlights.

This is marketing your item to make it appealing to the most people. Minimal personal belonings allow the next owner to visualise themselves and their belongings. The photos are repetitive and not sure what's being highlighted in some of them. For example: beds plain, beds with different bedding, beds with dog bed and dog bone. Kitchen plain, kitchen used with utensils. Couch plain, with cushions and with briefcase and wrinkled floor mat. Fingernail brush in bathroom photo.

Your boondocking modifications are really nice but not really highlighted in words. Your twin beds are nice and sought after but not mentioned in words just different pictures.

Maybe consider listing the truck separately also but referring to the possibility of a package deal.

Hang in there and use as many safe selling avenues as possible. Consider a consignment at a dealer since there are not that many available trailers for sale on lots these days.

Unfortunately this is the end of RV season for many people so less people looking to buy and worse there seems to be the beginning of the "Covid buyers" starting to sell.

I have not seen your listing but it sounds like it includes a tow vehicle. If you are towing with a heavy duty truck you should consider selling it separately. Tradesmen that use HD trucks to earn a living are having trouble sourcing them due to low inventories. I see our local dealer listing a 2020 f-350 low miles for $12,000 above original msrp. The ad looks even better than it did before, nice work. Of note it appears the photo(s) of the truck did not upload in your second ad.
Wishing the best.

What is are "Risers" in your original post? I am having a hard time equating that with an off the grid feature.

I’m guessing she means a lift kit.

I meant lifters, not risers.LOL Sorry !The lifters describe a Dexter axle lift kit. Lifts the camper up 4" in order to allow easier navigation over rougher terrain

Great! Lift kits for one and two axle trailers and 32 degree arms for 3 axle per Airstream and Dexter.

Sorry about your circumstances. Life can throw curveballs, tragic ones too.

Haven’t seen your ad (link?) but you mentioned the composting toilet. For a lot of AS owners, that would be a bridge too far. A majority tend to prefer rv parks and full hookups, or at least dump stations, without having to carry the solids and liquids separately out the front door to dispose of. Seeing the words ‘composting toilet’ would be a hard stop for them. There is a much smaller subset of true ‘boondockers’ in the Airstream world who will understand and appreciate a composting toilet.

Was your black tank removed as part of this? If not, is returning to the standard flush toilet an option? I believe that would widen your audience considerably.

I looked at the ad, I don't see any issues, it's a nice unit. It's only been listed 6 days, you'll need to give it more time. People are pondering and the right person will come along sooner than later.
Sorry for your loss.
Be well.

I would remove the reference to the composter or update to say it’s equipped as such but can be delivered with the original toilet.

I really loved the idea of Craigslist when I first heard about it, was always emailing them to add my area, which they finally did as they rolled out. It was great for a long time. But, I hadn't used it in awhile.

But by the time I went shopping for an Airstream a few years ago, the only local ads there were were the scam ads. I would occasionally find a legit listing as I expanded my search, but I was so disgusted by it being full of scammers, I eventually gave up. Yes, there are legitimate users of Craigslist still, but it's a mess. I wish you luck and patience if you try to use it these days.

Sold my 2017 fc23 the first Sunday, had 4 legit people lined up and the first bought it, $6000 more than I paid for it two seasons prior.

We used other platforms, spent money on them, but the 3 airstreams I sold were through RVTrader. I did follow the polite suggestions of other forum members to advertise elsewhere, it was a complete waste of money. Good luck!
