How many generators do you use

Hello- We have a 23FB and I purchased 2 yamaha ef2000is. I would like to avoid bringing 2 generators with us but headed to Joshua Tree soon (temps 80-85).

I was able to get the AC to work off of one gen- with no microwave use etc.

How many of you use only one gen like this and how long will the AC work? A/S Dealer recommended bringing the 2 out with us.

You will need 2 Yamaha 2000s to get a 13.5K AC to work. It may appear to work with one but I have been told can damage the compressor. Not sure if that will give you enough juice for a 15K unit

BYW I may be at Joshua Tree first couple of days in April

Nice – what JT campgrounds do you like better?

We've done a lot of tent camping in Joshua tree and have stayed at nearly every campground - this will be our first experience in JT with the Airstream

You basically have two choices in generators... one large one or two small ones. I went with the two small ones, tw0 small generators are easier for me to handle. In the "off" season I only take one with me. FWIW I have the Honda version.

We have a Honda 3000 that works the ac just fine along with everything else in the trailer but not all at once. The gen stays in the back of the truck. The two smaller generators and the related wiring are more than I want to deal with.

I went for the 2 because I don't want to lift 150lbs (bad back) so 2 at 45 lbs is easier for me and we will only need the one when we wont need the AC. Also- good at home for emergencies- 4000 watts when paralleled will at least keep the fridge going

We are new owners, but knew that we had to go large or get 2. That left us with Honda, Yamaha and possibly Kipor or Champion. We decided to risk getting Kipor. They are 2600w, and run at 4300 continuous, and 4900 peak in paralell. The math looks good, we'll see how they hold up.

Just so's you know. . . you have probably heard air conditioner capacity stated in "tons" at one time or another. Your rooftop air conditioner is probably rated at 12,000 BTU/hour or more. (Some small trailers have 13,500 and 15,000 BTU/hour units.)

12,000 BTU per hour is "one ton" of cooling capacity, meaning that it is equivalent to melting one ton of ice per day.

We went with two Honda's 2000 and have them for over two years. I only take both when we will need the AC otherwise I travel with only one. We choosed them as they are easier to lift in and out of the bed of the truck then a larger one.
I also use regular gas without the ethanol as it keeps the carburator from clogging.

Been using one Honda 2000i for 7 years now. AC is still running fine. It's the Carrier IV super efficient model.

I have 2 Honda 2000 units. Use both with the trailer, they are really for Hurricane use. I did have a Honda 3000 on a boat with remote start, sold the boat. The 3000 is my all-time favorite for rv use. Current boat has a 4.2 KW Fisher Panda (German) single cyl. diesel in a sound proof enclosure. Sea water cooled and will run all day and night for weeks on end. Very expensive little guy.

If you want to run your AC you need to use both of your generators. If you can do without AC you only need one.

Don't run your AC with one generator - you'll send it to an early grave.

My SINGLE Yamaha EF2400iHSC generator will run my 13.5 BTU AC unit just fine. It is a quiet as the Honda's.

We have no home or trailer generator yet

Tentative plan is to buy honda EU7000 next year - skip the electrical 50amp hookup cost (pricey) - and have the 7000 to do it all

Will leave in truck and truck goes in garage and can move around that way

Will get one of those lift devices for loading and unloading when needed - have spoke to a few owners that do well this way

Same decibels as a single honda 2000 and can run both AC units and also run my basics plus at home and to run AC in my airstream when parked at home for company staying

Or that has been one idea I am considering

It's fuel injected so less carb issues - hoping by time I my buy they will offere electric remote start option
