Harvest Hosts

Is anyone familiar with or heard anything about a web service called Harvest Hosts? For a membership fee they will provide you with a list of farms, wineries, museums etc., that have agreed to allow you to camp for free (24 hours) at their place. Here's a link:

My in-laws became members of Harvest Hosts recently. They really enjoy it because it was much nicer to look out at a winery than at a Walmart parking lot. Seems pretty neat!

We're members because we think it is a very cool idea and hope to take advantage of it someday. One thing: while there's no fee for camping, there is some expectation of a quid-pro-quo. For example, if you stay at a winery, you should at least buy a bottle of wine. No big deal, just that sort of thing. There is also a one-night limit unless you and your host explicitly agree, in advance, that another night or two is OK with them.

I"ve been a member for a couple of years. Been to 5-6 different locales. Great way to meet new folks and learn something about the local community.

We've had outstanding experiences with Harvest Hosts!

We use them for short overnight stays, either when we are enroute between point A and B, or when we want a short getaway near home.

The best part of it is that you are typically the only RV there, so you get a lot of privacy and get to enjoy the host site.

I highly recommend it!

We have stayed nearly ten times at Harvest Hosts. All have been welcoming, friendly, and helpful. One had installed two level RV gravel pads. Another stayed open after posted hours so we could sample, and purchase wine. Others offered water, and electric. None were a disappointment. Well worth the membership fee.

Harvest Hosts over 60 times

We have been traveling full-time since July 2016 in our 2001 30’ Airstream trailer. 38,000+ miles, 250+ campgrounds and 50 states/provinces so far. We have used Harvest Host for over 3 years and love it. Here is our review:

FYI in the last three years, there have been quite a few mentions of Harvest Hosts here:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Harv...=airforums.com

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f42...ts-186675.html
https://www.airforums.com/forums/f24...ts-190573.html

The second link appears to be the most recent thread.

Happy trails,

Peter
