Boondocking in Summit County (CO)
Might anyone know of a good spot for an overnighter in Summit County, probably south of I-70. I'll have the Bambi. I'm thinking of a road (bike) ride or two, maybe Lake Dillon, Loveland pass...or Hoosier Pass if I'm south of Brek. Is there anything on Swan Mountain Road? PM me if you don't wish to share it with the world. Thanks - Roy

There is a pull off area on Swan Mtn Rd called Sapphire PT. I think you could overnight there, though it isn't really a campground. There is a campground on the Frisco end of the Dillon Dam Rd and peak one campground on Hiway 9 in Frisco.
We have 40 acres in Jefferson, Park County, Colorado and you are welcome to stay there. Our place is located at the foot of Kenosha Pass, where there is also a Ntl Forest campground.
Hope this helps.
Oh, there is a pull off area at the top of Hoosier pass, as well.

Araphoe Basin
Hey Roy,
Not sure if this is of interest to you, but the upper parking lot at Arapahoe basin is a great place to overnight. All of the parking lots at A-Basin are on National Forest land.

I'm going to stay at Heaton Bay Campground (on Lake Dillon) the first night, because I reserved a good site, but A-Basin sounds great for the second night. Thanks. - RB

oh so funny. The reason I was asking is that my husband is a musician that plays in Summit County and I was going to tell you where to catch him. Unfortunatly he is coming back to Arkansas on Sunday the 27th so you will just miss him.

Ruedi is a good choice, but the wrong direction for me. It's actually in the county where I reside (Eagle)...well, the north half of the reservoir is.

No Greg Russell. I did run into Bruce Campbell (Air #719) while filling my tires in Frisco. I had not met him before. Another Airstream freak . . . Anyway, I was there only one night and stayed at Heaton Bay Campground, which was marginal at best: most of the (pine) trees that give the illusion of privacy have been removed because of the beetle problem. It was convenient, though. I cycled from there (Frisco) to the top of Loveland Pass, which I HIGHLY recommend for great road ride. Later.
