Boondocking Colorado & Utah

My GSD (German Shepherd Dog), a new Bambi 19CB and 2020 F150 we are heading west from Denver for a week or so and need advice on boondocking away from RV parks (as the ones I stayed are parking lots with a few trees). Have 3KW Honda quiet generator and solar panels. Carry extra water and propane, just one human, don’t need hookups. I need some guidance on where to overnight: national parks, state parks allow to do so off-road? I just want to be surrounded by nature, not cars, etc. Any advice will be appreciated greatly. Thanks.

Unless signs stating camping is allowed in designated areas only, national parks and national forests allow a 14 day stay, if I remember correctly.

State parks, not so much.

We spent several weeks years ago roaming around the Rocky Mountains, going from one little campground to another, most of them with no amenities and free, but a campsite rather than the side of a road.

Download the AllStays app for inexpensive or free federal campgrounds.

Also might try a site called Campendium.

Membership optional but very good user information with frequent updates and pictures.
