Boondocking California (Southern)

Hi guys

My wife and I are new to RVing and just purchased a Bambi 22fb. We drove to Colorado last month from Southern California for a week and had a blast.

We are heading up towards southern Oregon for a week on Thursday. We are tending to agree that we like the idea of dry camping in less crowded spots. We have 3 big dogs and donít want to be worrying with them being in a crowded campground.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice finding areas heading up the coast? We were planning on taking hwy 101.

Are there any other apps or tools you guys use to find decent spots? I have Campendium and boondocking app but Iím hesitant to trusting the boondocking app.
I have read through a few of these threads and from what Iím taking away from it is that finding good boondocking sites comes with experience which I donít have yet.

Any advice, locations or guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have relied on the AllStays app for years, which includes federal campgrounds with and without hookups.

If what you want is the perfect primitive spot at the end of a dirt road, this is not the app for you, but an actual campsite on beautiful federal land with pit toilets and possibly water is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of private campgrounds.

Campendium is another good free app. Select public campground and set price to zero, it will display on map where free boondocking sites are.

try

When we go to Oregon or Washington we use the very open beautiful US 395 and avoid the interstates.

Good luck, sounds like fun.
