Where to Source Old Style C Channel

SkyhighRV no longer sells the older style C channel.

Internet searching has me coming up empty... is there a source?

If it's just C channel like on my 60 and 61 any fab shop can whip it up from .040". I ordered extra as it's handy for stiffeners in the walls and all sorts of things that crop up. I like it with one leg longer than the other as it makes riveting simpler for a novice helper.

That’s great info, I’ll bet the aircraft supply close to me could fab that.

Any advantage to using slightly thicker material or is the .040 good enough?

Thicker holds itself better when the belly pan tried to deform it but I think .040" is still a good option, .032" may be a bit weak unless your belly pan is already formed well. You may want to double check your existing channel and decide if you want both angles to be 90 or if something like 94 may work better. I went with 90 and just adjusted as I went. Prior to installing a shot of suitable primer can't hurt either.

I ended up buying some 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” x 8’ square tubing. I took a jigsaw, broke about 3/8” off a metal blade so it wouldn’t bottom out and split one side at a time. I believe it may have been 18ga from one of the box stores. Just another option.
