Wheel Well Skin repair

I'd like to see some pics of anyone who has done a skin repair over the wheel wells? mine are dented, beat up over both sides of my tandem axle due to blow outs over the years.

I'm not a serious, airstream restorer like so many folks here but do want it to look a little better than the crinkled skin it has.

I'm wanting to cut a piece of aluminum and pop rivet it over the existing skin on both sides to cover the mess. To the purist I realize this would look stupid but to me it would look better than it does right now.

has anyone tried this on their trailer? any photo's to share?

If you'd post some photos I'm sure you'd get some advice on size and shape of your proposed patch(es). In other areas, some members have made patches that looked like the old Flying Horse wings and some have made stars and pentagons. Us boring people make circles.

I've got a nasty tear that looks like a wheel exited while underway sometime in the distant past. Here's one way to repair it.

You'll want to order some "J" edge from Vintage Trailer Supply to replace the damaged edge.

Here is an example that is on my trailer. This "patch" was there when I bought it. I am guessing that the owner had a blowout and had this done by a dealer to cover some damage (stressing guess). This patch is only on the curb side, but I figure no one can see both sides at once, so it is OK by me. I didn't notice it for almost two months after I bought it. It does have the molding on it the same as original making me believe a dealer did the job.

That's exactly what I want to do.

I think it actually looks cool they way they cut it with that flared look.

Wonder how I could cut it and make it look cool with my longer wheel well tandem?
