what size rivet for U channel, skin and belly pan connection?

Hi all,

I'm putting a floor in my 63 GT and need to replace all the U-channel on the drivers side before proceeding. Looks like I'll be buying a used set of rivet/bucking tools, What I can't seem to nail down is What size, length and grade of rivet(s) I need to order?

Trying to get my orders in over the weekend so I can get after it next Friday and Saturday!

I'm sure I've missed this info somewhere, I just have ran out of time to do "internet research ".

Thanks for any help you can give,

-Ben

Also I'm in the Portland Or. area and would like to buy locally if possible, anyone know a good supplier out my way?

The floor channel is held to the floor with 1/4 inch bolts.

not the the floor bolts, the rivets...

The U channel is shredded and is getting replaced, I need to know the rivet size etc. for the connection between the exterior skin,U-channel and belly pan.

Thanks for taking time on a Saturday to answer Questions!

Airstream used 1/8 pop rivets.

You can use those or go to 3/16 pop rivets.

Length, in this case doesn't matter, just so they are long enough.

But, with pop rivets, you would have to install a molding to cover them.

Airstream used 1/8 inch buck rivets, typically 1/2 inch in length.

Andy - it seems on the outside there are two types of rivets. There are the one's that are exposed to the sun, rain and snow (I would assume Olympic and shaved down) - and then there are the ones on the belly pan - which are like the interior pop rivets but larger. Are these the buck rivets? They have the center hole similar to the interior. What size are these? I drilled the out with a 5/32 bit - which was a tad small... also - what should I expect to spend on clecos (100).
