Rivets-rubber washers or Vulkem?

I'm just getting started on my '57 Flying Cloud and have a question that I could not find an answer for in search function. Would a little gob of Vulkem or whatever the name is now work well enough on the shaft of an Olympic rivet or should one spend the considerable amount more for the rubber washer model? It seems that the goo would work well enough but I'd like the consensus, please.

PS-I have a pickup load of broken linoleum, raggedy carpet, mouse poop, dirt, mouse skeletons, moldy cushions, moldy mattresses, and an old can of pork & beans to go to the landfill. If you are in need or any of the above items, you can have it and help save the environment.

I think the Vulkem is the preferred method. It's been raised here before, but I can't find the thread that explains why.

Vulkem- rubber will rot away and leave the rivet loose and leaking.

Vulkem is okay. Many prefer Sikaflex 221 -- skins over dry to touch in a fraction of the time. It is very smooth. Grey is a close match to the color of aluminum.

One more thing.....Sikaflex hardens very quickly. For large scale work, this could be a problem since once it sets it won't flex into gaps very well. However, Vulkem stays flexible much longer, which is why we prefer it for larger jobs such as skin replacements etc.
Both are excellent products, though.

I was outside in the cloud tonight and after gutting 95%, I haven't found one mouse turd yet. Looks like you have all the luck.

Ah Grasshopper, Yu may get opinions, but never a consensus on the forums. I am not familiar with the rivets with the gaskets but think I would go with goo
