RIVET Sizes and question?

Doing repair to pinstriping. Have to remove the metal "hold down" that keeps awning down i.e. there is a loop on awning that slips over the two headed metal fixture. Is that a big rivet I see holding the fixture? Can I just drill it out and replace with another #30 or 1/8" pop rivet? I'm not knowledgeable on rivets etc. so any guidance appreciated.

What kind of awning is it? Contact the manufacturer so you can accurately describe the parts you are talking about. Perhaps they will have a manual or parts diagram. ZipDee is very helpful. Sorry, but I don't understand your description. Photo would pin it down.

I am no expert on Airstream sheet metal repair, but on my trailer I believe the awning hook is fastened with Olympic rivets.

Assuming this is a ZipDee. They did use Olympic Rivets. If that is the case I would use Olympic rivets over standard pop rivets. They spread inside to 3 large arms which gives more support. You can get them from Inland RV or an aircraft supply. They go in like regular pop rivets.

ZipDee uses a rivet similar to the Olympic, but it does not have a rounded head and there is no shaving to be done afterwords.
