Rivet Shaver advice

I am looking to buy a rivet shaver and it seems Dotco and Zephyr are popular brands. Are there any specs I need to know before I buy? size? speed? etc
I love this airforums iphone app!
Thanks, Ben

I got mine from Aircraft Tool Supply Company
It comes with the bits and works great. A bit pricey but does the job.

I bought my shaver from Vintage Trailer Supply:

Olympic HS310-5B Rivet Head Shaver

Seems expensive but does a good job.

Got my rivet shaver from VTS too. After six years, it's still going strong.

I have both the Dotco and the rivet shaver from VTS. I use them for different functions. The Dotco I use for shaving rivets flush and use the one from VTS to shape olympic rivets. I have yet to find a cutter for the Dotco to shape Olympic rivets.

I contacted Byler Rivet Supply in Texas (Contacted them via their website). They were able to provide me with rivets, shaver, clecos, cleco pliers; the works. I simply told them what I was doing (a single panel replacement) and they were all over it. Very helpful and seemed to know just what I needed once they found out I was doing an Airstream panel replacement.

Can you post the prices you got on the shaver and rivets and such. Just curious about their prices compared to Vintage.
Thanks,
Rick

A couple of Airstream dealers sell those items for less money than Byler.

Where can I get Rivets 101? No problem with the Pop Rivets, wondering how the exterior Rivets work. The plan is to change a window and exterior section.
Too hot in Texas right now may wait tell cooler weather.

Welcome to the forums!

Hi clyde123, Read...Ribs, Skins & Rivets - Airstream Forums

Are you removing the inside skin? Do you want to do all work from the outside?

Thanks for the info.
From what I have read, leaning toward the Olympic type rivets. Pulling the inside skins what mean pulling half the Galley out ( the half with the sink and stove top ) which is where in Window is.
Being new with the Airstream I appreciate the forum, lots of good information.
