Repairs or seam sealing on the top of my Airstream

Can you actually get on top of the Airstream? If so do you stand only where the rivets are? Thinking of switching out the exhaust fan and re-sealing all the places that were previously sealed at the factory. Its been seven years.

Yes- and only stand on rivet lines. Tread gently, if you feel the skin moving, you're not stepping in the right place. And don't stand on the end caps.

The factory tour said to get on the roof on the awning side. I think that's for safety- if you were to slip, the awning header would stop you from going over the edge.

Yes, you can 'walk' on the roof. I am about 270# and I do. However, I also place either 3/4" plywood or several wide boards on the roof, bridging the RIBS/rivets.

It is important that you also place some 'non-skid' material on roof before placing the board(s)...

Next, you climb up using a ladder, which is properly padded so it doesn't scratch...leaned against the curb or street side ZipDee awning.

Oh, make sure you have a "ground support" person to hand tools, parts, call 911 if you fall, of course the call would happen after the requisite YouTube video being posted successfully.
