Panels dimension

Hi
Im planning to build a decorative Airstream for my coffeeshop inside. Can anyone help me where can i find the dimensions of the frame and each panel so i can cut them by the exact sizes. Was looking all over the internet and didnt find nothing.

Welcome to the Forums!

Maybe you can give us more information on what you are hoping to achieve. Are you trying to build an entire Airstream trailer from scratch inside your coffee shop?

The simple answer to your question about dimensions is that you will not find such dimensions. There are many different lengths of trailers, and the body size and shape has changed over the years, so dimensions of a 60's era trailer are not at all the same as 70's era trailers, which differ from modern trailers.

Good luck!

That is a massive undertaking--even if it is just meant for decoration. All of those segments that make up the curved front and rear portions of the trailer are not just flat sheets that have been bent into a curve, they are formed in three dimensions at the factory.

I would suggest that you might be way ahead by buying an actual "salvage" trailer and stripping everything off until you have the shell in the condition you need.

good luck!

Thanks for the answer
I talked to a steanless steal factory here and its not a problem to cut and bend in 3D. That is why i will need the exact dimensions of cuting and bending but camnt find a plan for it anywhere.
Thanks

If it were me, I would first decide on the year and model. Like Belegedhel said, there are many configurations. You can go to Airstream Archives Pictures and go through all the years. After the mid fifties, Airstream went to the stretch formed end caps which are difficult to replicate. The 55 FC I'm working on has flat segments that are riveted together that forms the end caps. No stretch forming. If you found a year and model you wanted to duplicate, you could post drawings of each elevation and post that for forum members to fill in the blanks on section dimensions. You will still need to have the structural ribs bent. On our 55, we replaced about 60% of the exterior skin due to dents, holes, etc. All the sections were pretty straight forward cuts. Like mentioned above, you may buy an old shell to be polished or use for patterns then resell. Good luck, Bubba
