Olympic rivet tools

Anybody out there close to the Central Coast of CA (San Luis Obispo) who has the tools to install Olympic rivets? I need to put my new nameplate/logo on and I'd like to rent someone's tools or expertise cuz I have all of 6 or 8 rivets to do. Will swap or pay. Thanks.

Smallfry,

You just use a standard pop rivet tool to install Olympic rivets. You can get the tool and any home center like Home Depot.

The only special tool is a rivet shaver to give the Olympic rivet that smooth factory look. But its not required.

Don't forget to put a dab of vulkulm on each rivet before installing them.

Good Luck!

If you own a vintage Airstream, go ahead and buy the pop rivet tool and a box of 100 rivets. You'll need them eventually. You can use a clipper and a file to clean up the tops of a few rivets rather than investing big bucks in the rivet shaver.

Have you taken a peek at your Bubble's underside? I'm not sure if the Bubble has a belly skin like later models, but if it does and it hasn't been recently refurbished, it's a good bet you've got more riveting to do ... !

rivets again

Thanks Tube but I have a pop rivet tool and have done a whole lot of riveting on the rebuild on the Bubble. It's the head shaving part that has me stalled. The belly pan on my trailer has long been gone to the dump - it was a disaster area and a new will be built. Hopefully. One of these days.

Small fry,

PM me an Adress and I will sned you some Olympics. Rluhr has the right idea, I have used a dremel to knock them down to make them presentable until I can get to someone with a shaver. I am lucky to have one I can borrow for a day if need be.

Every Airstream dealership should have a shaver, why not just stop by and ask for it to be done, I don't know why anyone would refuse to do that simple 1 minute job, I wouldn't hesitate.
