Question Loose Rivets

I have 3 - 5 loose rivets that are trailing a nasty black crude down the side of my AS and I am wondering how to (tighten, replace, seal, ect) Any ideas??

Center punch the rivet head. Drill out (off) the rivet head and punch out the rivet body remaining if necessary. Install Olympic rivets in their place...dab each one in some vulcum sealer before installing. Trim off the stem after installation and smooth it off with a file/dremel or, best of all, a rivet shaver. Should take about 10 minutes after you get it all together.

I think its PPL that has the Olympic shaver rental program. You pay the full price somewhere near $290 and after the rental period you return it and they credit you back $212.

Where can you buy Olympic Rivets? For the exterior skin.
Do they require a special rivet gun? One that is different from the standard "Pop Rivet" gun?
I take it that I don't have to remove the interior skin to use Olympic Rivets.

Yes, that's the nice thing about Olympic rivets. You don't need to remove the interior skin to install them. They install just like a regular pop rivet and you use the same exact tools. Olympic rivets can be purchased at Vintage Trailer Supply and Inland RV.

5/32" for exterior skins. Grip length between 1/4" and 1/2" should do most of your needs.

Airstream uses 2 sizes of rivets, 1/8 inch and 3/16 inch.

When repairing the coaches, another size comes into play, which is for the exterior metal, excluiding the underbelly. That size is 5/32 inch, which is for the Olympic rivets, which also have but one length.

The correct drill sizes to use is a #30 drill for the 1/8 inch, #21 drill for the Olympics and #11 for the 3/16 inch underbelly rivets.
